30 Days to a Better You

The Keto Diet is NOT for You if You’re Like This

What is the keto diet?

The Ketogenic Diet is a high fat, moderate protein, and low carbohydrate diet. The low-carb intake helps keep your insulin and blood sugar levels from spiking. This allows your fat cells to begin releasing fatty acids, which your liver will then break down to produce what are called “ketones.”

Ketosis is the physiological state that is achieved when your body breaks down ketones for energy rather than the glucose from carbohydrates.

Who is the keto diet for?

Anyone and everyone… Yeah, I know, easy answer. “Stop trying to push your diet on me, Los!

No, that’s not the case at all. I personally have been keto for years now. There are before and after photos NO ONE will ever see (maybe if you ask nicely). Bottom line: following the ketogenic diet has helped me achieve my health and fitness goals and I want to share all the success I’ve experienced so others can improve their own lives.

The most obvious and popular benefit is weight loss. It’s probably the main reason people are interested in trying the keto diet. Yes, almost every person who sticks to the keto diet loses weight… but wait, there’s more!

For those of you who are extremely busy and don’t have time for multiple meals, the keto diet can be extremely beneficial and convenient. Once you’re body becomes fat adapted, you’ll find you don’t need to eat as much to feel satiated, or need to eat as often to feel energized.

Another common benefit of going keto is enhanced cognitive function. In other words, you are going to think more clearly and feel less energy crashes throughout the day.

To feel any real effects from the keto diet, you need to commit for 60, 90, or even 120 days. Once you start, it is important to measure your success. Are you measuring your ketone levels? Are you weighing yourself? Are you measuring your body to see if you’re losing inches (note: you can lose inches without losing weight!)? Are you keeping a journal detailing your meals and how you feel?

You will never know if keto is for you unless you give it a try. If 60 days sounds like too much time, start with 30 days. Even in that amount of time, you’ll likely see benefits that will want to make you stay keto.
