Kristen H., 40

Kristen, before and after

How long have you been on the keto diet? Since February 22, 2017
Starting Weight: 194 pounds (Started The Keto 30 at 160 pounds)
Current Weight: 149.5 pounds (Finished The Keto 30 at 152.5 pounds)
My goal is to lose 50 pounds. Hope to do another Keto 30 challenge to get there!

Tell us a little about yourself.
I live in West Lafayette and work at Purdue University. I am married to a great Keto guy and have a 17-year-old son. My son is not completely keto but has drastically decreased his sugar intake and looks at carb amounts on packages. I work full-time and take 5 online courses. I’m hoping to graduate in December 2018 in Informatics. The goal is to be out of school before the kid goes in — fingers crossed.

How did you hear about the keto diet?
I started a program through a doctor’s office. Their program is focused around the Ketogenic diet.

Why did you decide to try the keto diet?
I turned 40 and thought there was no better time to start living better. I’ve never met a keto follower in a bad mood!

What other diets have you tried? How does keto compare?
I tried Whole 30 and made it a whole two days and didn’t feel I was ready. Keto gave me more options. It seems to be everywhere you look. This world has gone Keto-Crazy! You don’t have to give up what you love; you just have to reinvent it a little.

What was the most challenging aspect(s) of the keto diet?
Crossing the bridge from “I can’t have that” to “I don’t want that.”

How did you overcome your top challenge(s)?
I really haven’t. Most days are still a struggle (working in an office can be a sugar station somedays), but I know how much work I’ve put into getting here to feel this good. I purposely found things I have always wanted to try but didn’t think I was capable of doing. For example, I signed up for a 10-week program to train for a 5K race and am proud to say I ran one in October 2017.

Why did you decide to participate in The Keto 30 challenge?
Great positive message. It had products I was interested in trying at a lower cost than what I was used to paying for similar products. Community means everything when you’re trying something new.

How did you feel while doing The Keto 30?
I looked forward to waking up so I could make an MRP shake! I sleep better. I focus better. I stopped having that afternoon crash. I love talking about it and encouraging others to try it.

What was your favorite part about The Keto 30?
The fact that I had a plan. I got better at planning out what a week was going to look like for me. I liked feeling very comfortable all morning, not starving.

What’s your favorite KetoLogic MRP flavor?
Strawberry, with Toasted Coconut Almond Milk, a splash of heavy whipping cream, and a handful of frozen sliced strawberries (and sometimes a scoop of vanilla coconut collagen) blended in my NutriBullet and poured into my KetoLogic shaker cup. Absolutely delicious! It’s so good that I haven’t tried Chocolate or Vanilla yet, but I’ll get there.

What’s your favorite KetoLogic BHB flavor? Probably Apple-Pear – the colder, the better.

What advice would you give to someone considering the keto diet and/or The Keto 30?
It’s so much better to have a plan and have products to base your day on. The recommendation of one MRP shake, 2 servings of BHB, and 2 healthy keto meals a day has been a great foundation for me to plan my days around.
