Tell us a little about yourself.

I am a mom of 3 boys, an entrepreneur and public speaker. My life demands a lot of energy from me. I’ve always been active, health conscious, and able to maintain my weight and vibrancy.

However, a couple of years ago, due to some severe stressors in my business, I suffered a complete burnout. I had severe fatigue, my cognitive function and short-term memory were impaired, I had joint pain I never had before, and I gained 50 pounds within a year.

For the first time ever, I had gained all this belly fat that just sat in the middle of my abdomen. None of my prior ways of being able to lose weight seemed to budge it.

It severely impaired my lifestyle and made movement and dressing up very uncomfortable. I did not recognize myself nor did I feel like myself in my own body. It felt like a part-time job going to doctors and researching trying to heal myself and get back to feeling well again. I knew that part of the issue was inflammation in my body, and I wanted to do whatever I could to heal that at the root.

How did you hear about the keto diet?

I’d heard about Keto before (mostly on Facebook) and several friends have seen great results losing weight on it. I also knew it helped reduce inflammation in the body. But it was one of those things… I didn’t really have time to look into it and try to figure out how to incorporate it into my life.

However, desperate to get well again, I approached my yoga instructor for any suggestions she had, and she suggested I look into Keto and KetoLogic.

Why did you decide to try the keto diet?

Once I learned how simple Keto could be, I decided to do it because it looked very promising to help me achieve my top three goals:

  1. Have enough ENERGY on my own to not need coffee to survive (I knew coffee was not great for the adrenal fatigue I was experiencing).
  2. LOSE the 50 lbs I had added in the past year so that I could fit back into my old clothes and feel like myself again.
  3. And clear up the brain fog that I seemed to experience regularly and get back to my sharp mind again.

What other diets have you tried? How does keto compare?

In my past, I have mostly done the typical fitness competition meal plans. I had also done carb cycling with much success. But the challenge with those diets is that they are boring as heck! And I have to eat 6 times a day. It required my entire Sunday to be dedicated to meal prep in order to stay on track.

I found Keto to be way more enjoyable from a meal perspective. I actually teased my girlfriend who was doing the traditional fitness meal plan. We’d take photos of our meals each day and send them to each other… her photos were basically oatmeal as her most enjoyable meal and mine included guacamole, salmon, shrimp, zucchini noodles with feta, olive oil and Parmesan chips. Yum! We always got a good laugh about it each day.

Also, from a convenience standpoint, I only needed to eat 3 times a day (which is great when you are a busy entrepreneur and mom like me). And it satiated me so I was not fighting cravings or constantly hungry. Having a customized meal plan from my Keto Coach was very helpful in keeping me on track.

What was the most challenging aspect(s) of the keto diet?

The most challenging part of the keto diet for me was making sure I didn’t take in more protein than fat. I could see my previous default was to snack on protein. I had to find new ways to be sure to get enough fat. My entire family and I love guacamole, so that is a staple. I also love the convenience of the FBOMB nut butters when needed.

It is a different way of thinking for me to think that creams and butter and other “fats” are okay, so as I began to incorporate them, I realized how much I had deprived myself on other plans.

How did you overcome your top challenge(s)?

Once I got into ketosis and saw the benefit of eating more fat than protein, and the weight started coming off, it made it easier to trust that the plan was going to work for me.

For convenience, I always had guacamole, olives, olive oil, coconut oil, nuts and FBOMB nut butters on hand to make sure I was not compromising my fat intake.

Why did you decide to participate in the KETO 30 Challenge?

I chose to participate in the KETO 30 Challenge because I desperately needed to feel some sense of success. I needed a jumpstart. I needed a win to feel encouraged that I could indeed accomplish my goals of weight loss, energy, and mental acuity again.

How did you feel while doing the KETO 30 Challenge?

I felt amazing. I never experienced any type of “keto flu” as you may read about. I never felt deprived. I had energy and no afternoon slumps. My mental alertness is improving and I’ve already lost 10 pounds.

What was your favorite part?

That I wasn’t fighting cravings. They were simply non-existent.

What was your least favorite part?

I’m still wrestling with the dairy part of Keto. I don’t know if my body does well with it or not. Due to having experienced joint pain, I’m hesitant to embrace dairy fully. I do it in moderation now, but boy, do I love cheese.

What’s your favorite KetoLogic MRP flavor?

Chocolate… that is the only one I’ve tried, actually, but I love it mixed with coffee as my morning meal each day. It is easy and I feel satiated well into lunch.

What’s your favorite KetoLogic BHB flavor?

Patriot Pop!

What advice would you give to someone considering the keto diet and/or the KETO 30 Challenge?

Do it! It’s so much easier than most plans. You will not have cravings. You will enjoy your meals. You will have energy. You will feel satiated. It’s awesome!

Any other final thoughts you’d like to share?

I’m so grateful for my Keto Coach and all who have been involved in supporting me on this journey. It has been a wonderful experience.
